Additionally, I don't get why iTunes doesn't start with the "play" key anymore after I closed BeardedSpice. I think BeardedSpice should work "instantly" with the first (or any) applicable browser tab without having to "activate" it first. I find there are multiple things wrong here. Additionally, using the "Set Active Tab" shortcut on the YT video tab doesn't make any difference: Media keys are still ignored completely.īeardedSpice is now working properly again. Beardedspice did not work for me and actually disabled the media keys working in any program. Media keys are now assigned to VLC or iTunesīeardedSpice still knows which video is playing, but media keys are ignored and iTunes does not start either when Play is pressed. Note that I already had some tabs opened with some unrelated websites that don't have sound playing capabilities. There are also no processes from either running.ĮDIT 5: I don't have any media extensions on chrome and already disabled the media key handling by going to chrome://flags/#hardware-media-key-handling.I have some issues where BeardedSpice stops recognising mediakeys "randomly". I also looked for "leftovers" from those two apps using fd -i bearded and fd -i spotify and didn't find anything. Recently I migrated back to apple music and media keys dont work anywhere. Media keys didnt work on spotify, so I assumed it was a spotify issue, and started using bearded spice. EDIT 4: it seem to have stopped working when I briefly migrated from apple music to spotify. With Overcast, when I open the app I know that all new episodes have already been downloaded. Any ideas?ĮDIT: best guess is some app is "stealing" the key presses, not sure how to find out if that's true and if so, which app.ĮDIT 2: tested in another user and it works. I don't know what could possibly cause this. Volume keys work fine though, just the play, next and previous aren't working (on any player). If I use something like BeardedSpice, it does, but I don't get why it doesn't work without it as well. I have a MX Keys keyboard, connected via bluetooth, and recently, the media keys just don't work anymore.
