The app's good, but could definitely benefit from even just a little bit more maintenance and updating. It's the lack of features, especially for the high price tag, that I'm not a huge fan of. Why, for example, does CARROT not have the full voice set here too? That really shouldn't be hard to port over once they've done it once, features like that don't need to be completely redone, so porting should be trivial. Some of these things genuinely puzzle me. While AR cannot really come to the Windows for obvious reasons, the other features are only missing due to a lack of developer interest. When you compare the two side-by-side, there's really no contest the iOS one has better features for CARROT (such as different personality modes), more secret locations, and the ability to search for them, more detailed forecasts, with hourly ones for the next week, and more. However, this app is sorely lacking in features that the iOS version has which could genuinely make this an even better weather app. These things are good they do their job quite well. It also allows you to check the weather on any day in the last 70-or-so years, find secret locations, and check the radar. It allows for weather prediction up to 10 years in advance, and can provide minute-by-minute forecasts when needed. This feels like zero testing was done.ĬARROT Weather is a rather humorous, yet highly useful, weather application. I hope that more testing is done and the app returns to its former glory. Smart updating seems to be no more and I have to upgrade to Level 3 (I'm already Level 2) to get more than 30 minute updates. I also used to have a "Today" widget which was the other 5% and that seems to be gone now. You can't close the main window and keep it running in the menu bar. This new version of Carrot Weather is fraught with problems. I would give anything to have the old app back. Combined with the features I've lost from the previous PAID version (and that's coming from a Level 2 subscriber), I think I am going to just uninstall this app now. it's just no longer the app it used to be. The temperature rarely updates, she never talks, you can't click for the hourly forecast, sometimes you just get a fully black window where it should be that you have to force quit. Update 11/22: While the developer did fix the ability to have the app run in the menu bar while being closed, it just doesn't work like it used to. And, because of the snarks, I’ll have to make sure now that I don’t inadvertently call someone a meatbag (LOL)…. Now, if Carrot Weather can improve their Radar app to be on the same level as MyRadar, we will be absolutely golden. For those of us on the Windows, we know that is something that should be required for every app out here: Keyboard Shortcuts!! And, the Windows app is definitely awesome as well, employing keyboard shortcuts throughout the app. That’s all well and good, but it really does get down to business when it comes to knowing what weather is coming your way, giving detailed analysis of whatever weather conditions are present at any location you desire. The Snarks are awesome, and definitely will get you laughing at least every once in a while. Well worth the money!!! This app is WAY better than Forecast (especially on the Microsoft Watch) or even the native Dark Sky app! But, this app has some pretty good humor, and it is definitely a trip to poke the daylights out of the Ocular Sensor every now and then (LOL). But then I finally took the plunge and bought it on the iOS and Windows platforms. All this time, I had been seeing Carrot Weather at a distance, seeing what it can do, but I wasn’t impressed at first.
